It has been some time since the last blog was posted – too long! This is not because nothing has been happening, it is actually the opposite – too much has been happening and it has been a challenge to keep up with events as they unfold.

This not cause for complaint, but rather, there has been a sudden growing spurt for the Festoon Publishing business as opportunities have opened up for doing business with book selling businesses from around the world. How did this come about?

I stumbled across an invitation whilst browsing the internet, to attend a Christian booksellers conference near Penrith NSW. I had some books that fitted that category so I decided to became a member of the organization, the Christian Booksellers Association of Australia (CBAA), and attended the conference.

What I discovered was a wealth of information that came like a flood over the next two full days of the conference. It was here that I was to find out what a bookseller is looking for when they are looking at stocking their shelves with Christian books (and any other worthwhile book that they consider to be a winner, for that matter.) One of the big surprises for me was discovering that the books that sell have an eye-catching cover, and that the contents of the book is only of a secondary consideration to most buyers. I still find that astounding! Nevertheless, that is how the book industry works and flourishes.

Of course there were so many other things that I have learnt at the conference, and I will be implementing these things in the course of the next coming months. Some things have already been set in place ready for the Christmas rush. Hence the failure to keep up with my scheduled blog posts of late.

Two of the books that I had on display at the conference, was “The Spider With No Nose” by Julia Green, and my book “The True Story of Aunt Mabel’s Dead Cat” caught the attention of one bookseller and considered them worthy to be promoted in his country. Julia’s book has been reformatted as a hard-cover book and will be available worldwide in about a weeks time. The other book will be available worldwide this week as a paper-back.

With the reformatting of these books, it necessitated a completely new set of ISBN numbers for them. Julia’s book,  ‘The Spider With No Nose” is now available as a 6″x 9″ hardback edition, and its new ISBN: 978-0-6457371-8-9.

The book, “The True Story of Aunt Mabel’s Dead Cat” written by Jon. Holden, has had an extra addition of ten pages giving the back-story to the front cover image. The book is now a standardized A5 size for easier referencing on the international market. The new edition is: ISBN 978-0-6457371-7-2. Both books are available through major international booksellers, or by accessing the Festoon Publishing website: https://www.festoonpublishing.com.au/. You can also Google the ISBN number to discover which booksellers are promoting the books.
