Today marks another book release; Love is at the Door has finally been published after what has been an incredible journey for the Author, Kevin Holland, a retired Salvation Army officer who began to receive dreams and visions from God early on Sunday the 25th of July 1993.
When God speaks, He has the capacity to get our attention. He certainly got Kevin’s attention as the dream was terrifying in its impact upon his emotions as God made clear what He sought to do in and through his people, the Church.
What was so distressing for Kevin was the urgency with which the Lord was calling His people to come into right order of relationship within His Body. Sometimes words alone do not convey the message adequately, so God has spoken in the language of dreams and visions for all of us to understand. God is being very gentle in the way He is speaking His heart’s desire for us.
Many Christians go through life knowing about the love of God in an academic way. They know of the love of God because of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us when He went to the cross – but the love of God has never touched their heart.
In the pages of this book we see the love of God permeating into every part of His Body and becomes the power that makes His Body ‘work’ in a way that has never been fully understood. Instead of believers doing what their Lord and Master is calling them to do, they find comfort in blending in with other Church members and try not to do anything that is considered outside the ‘norm’.
In the pre-release version of the book, there has been many positive responses, and by far the greatest response to the book has been in its profoundness in its simplicity of such an important declaration of God’s will and purpose for the coming days.
This book is not the type of book that can be read as a novel, but rather, it is very thought provoking, and as such, it is the type of book that leads one into deeper fellowship with God Himself as images from the dream provoke the reader into a deeper understanding of the Body of Christ and how it was designed to function.
So many times in the past, man has come up with lots of wonderful ideas on how the Church ought to function and what is the ‘genuine’ Christian mode of life that we should all emulate. The end result has been a fragmentation of the Body of Christ into separate compartments that we call ‘churches’.
That is about to change….
