For those who were familiar with the old ‘hero image’ for Festoon Publishing and are wondering what has happened, rest assured, you are in the right place. The new look is all part of preparations for the new year where several new books will be released for publication. The revamp is intended to reflect the impetus of moving forward with renewed vision and purpose for 2026.
Many of the books that will appear here next year have been in the formulation stages of authors minds for many years now. The process of book writing is often tedious and arduous, but the reward is in seeing the finished product being of a great blessing to the reader.
There are two books in particular that have caught my attention, and although I cannot say too much about them at this stage, I am very pleased with the way that the editing process is proceeding so far.
There are many different literary styles that an author can adopt, for example, a biography of one’s experiences can be expressed in a scholarly, or academic manner at one end of the spectrum, or personalised as a diary of personal experiences at the other end of the spectrum – and of course there are many other formats and styles in between that can be adopted as well.
Some of the things that need to be considered by a Publisher is the content, the intended readership that the author thinks would be most interested in their book, and of course there is the marketing of the product. Unfortunately the old axiom ‘You cannot judge a book by it’s cover’ doesn’t apply in today’s world of clever advertising. It is the cover that invariable sells the book – not the contents. There are exceptions to this rule, a well known author could put anything on their book cover and still would be guaranteed sales. Gone are the days where the buyer picks up a book without regard to the attention grabbing cover image. These days a fair proportion of book covers are designed by Artificial Intelligence that makes a book look better than it is.
This year is quickly drawing to a close with Christmas now only a few days away. It is with great pleasure that I’m happy to announce that four children’s eBooks were recently uploaded onto Lulu’s Bookstore (the world’s largest independent bookstore) https://www.lulu.com/shop . These books were the result of my wife, Susan and son, Jordan combining their efforts to produce a set of four delightful children’s stories.
The book titles are: The Home Team, I Need You Son, Something Useful, and Sweet Treat. These books will soon become available in the new year as both a Paperback and a Hardcover book.
Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas from everyone at Festoon Publishing.
